The Kanektok River is a fly fishing wonderland. Guests that have fished this river before keep coming back because there's no place like it in Alaska! To have such a phenomenal overall fishery on one river in Alaska simply can't be found. The Kanektok (aka Chosen River) is the perfect combination of an excellent salmon fishery where you can catch king, coho, sockeye, chum, and pinks along with beautiful leopard rainbow trout, char (dolly varden), and grayling. The Kanektok is fishable all season long, no fly outs are needed, and you can fish everyday regardless of the weather. Check out our Alaska video filmed on location or any of our picture galleries by clicking here.

Reel Action Alaska Lodge is perfectly situated low in the river system to take full advantage of the excellent salmon fishery. Chrome bright pacific salmon pass by our lodge all day long. Guests enjoy catching chrome bright salmon along with mousing for rainbows, catching grayling on dry flies and enjoying catching char on many different fly patterns. The healthy Leopard Rainbow population are excellent sizes and plentiful with many over 22 inches and some even reaching 30 inches. The diversity of species you can catch combined with easily wadable gravel bars along with many creek channels and braided sections to explore make this fishery one of the best in Alaska! Reel Action also has a special use permit for the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge Wilderness Area where guests enjoy access to over 25 miles of wilderness that contains some of the best mousing action in Alaska! Want to see a rainbow hit a mouse pattern? Then click here and watch a short video! Don't believe us that these rainbows feed heavily on mice? Then click here to read this article compliments of research done by the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge.

We have customized spacious 10 x 12ft and 12 x 12ft heated wall tent cabins with wooden floors and carpeting. These wall tents are super strong, waterproof and can withstand the weather conditions in Alaska. For your comfort we sleep single occupancy, one client per tent cabin. The tent cabins are furnished with a padded cot with quilt and high quality sleeping bag, soft pillows, dresser, lantern, mosquito coil, clean linens for showering, clothes hangers, windows with screening, and plenty of storage room for your luggage and gear. The location of our lodge (1 mile from tide water) was carefully chosen to provide our guests a front row seat to the freshest chrome bright fly fishing action in Alaska. The best holding water to fly fish for fresh run kings, silvers, chums, and pinks is right in front of our lodge. Read more about our lodge accommodations by clicking here.

Conservation and respect for the fishery is a very important principal we teach to guests at Reel Action Alaska Lodge. We are strictly catch and release for all the following fish species; king salmon, rainbow trout, char (dolly varden), and grayling. Please remember these are all wild fish and every fish you release makes a difference to the overall health of the fishery. Proper fish handling techniques when shooting pictures and landing fish are strictly enforced! If you are interested in keeping a few salmon to take home we only keep the males of chums, sockeye, or silvers. They are filleted, vacuum packed, and frozen and we provide a 25lb wax fish box for your trip home.
